Milling haptics of solid and foldable
intra-ocular lenses is an integral part of the finished product.
A new manufacturing method has been developed using Single Crystal
Diamond
Milling tools that makes them more precise and reliable than the
traditional tungsten carbide milling cutters.
Used on PMMA and foldable
materials,
fixed with wax, vacuum or ice, the Contour diamond is glued in
the symmetrical shank, which prevents imbalance in the shank. Size
of
the cutting radius is guaranteed within a tolerance of ±0.01mm
and the parallelism of the cutting edge to the shank is within 0.01mm.
The result is no imbalance in the tool producing better surface finish
and longer tool life. It is not uncommon for the life of the tool
to
mill 10,000 to 15,000 lenses with a stable machine. |
